Membership Dues

Voices
Membership dues for Voices’ two sessions (Fall and Spring) are a total of $130, or $65 per session that you sing.  Music packets vary depending on the repertoire chosen for each concert.

Cantari
 Membership dues for Cantari’s three sessions are a total of $120, or $40 per session that you sing.  Music packets vary depending on the repertoire chosen for each concert.

Summer
Membership dues for the summer season are $60, or $20 if you sang with Voices or Cantari in the spring. Music packets vary depending on the repertoire chosen for each concert.

 

Voices: Our 130-Voice Choir

Rehearsals are held on Tuesday evenings from 7:30-9:30 pm in the Parish Hall of St. Thomas More Catholic Church. Voices performs concerts in December and May.

If you have some singing experience and are seeking an inspirational and exciting choral opportunity, we would love for you to join us.  Schedule an audition by clicking the link below.  Our membership chair will contact you and schedule an audition time.

The audition consists of meeting our conductor, Dr. Stephen Futrell, singing some accompanied vocal warm-ups, and singing a prepared song that you provide. Bring a piece that is in a good range for your voice and in a legato style. Songs can range from folk songs, to selections from musicals or operas, art songs, and hymns. If you do not have a song for the audition, Dr. Futrell has many familiar selections on hand. He will be listening for range, resonant vocal quality, your ability to sing in tune and to project your voice. There will also be a simple tune for you to sight read. Audition results will be emailed to you by the following day.

 

Cantari: Our 30-Voice Select Ensemble

If you are interested in singing with Voices’ smaller ensemble, Cantari, the audition process is similar.  Schedule an audition by clicking the link above. Our membership chair will contact you and schedule an audition time.  Cantari singers are expected to be vocal soloists and good sight readers.  Much of the music will be sung a cappella.  The ensemble performs three concerts each season – November, March, and May.  Cantari rehearses on Monday evenings from 7:15 -9:15 pm at University United Methodist Church in Chapel Hill.

 

Summer Voices

The chorus rehearses Tuesdays and Thursdays from 7:00 pm to 9:00 pm at University United Methodist Church during a seven-week session in the summer.

Financial Aid

A small number of scholarships are available for those needing assistance with chorus dues. If you need financial aid, please fill out the Financial Aid Application and submit it along with your registration form.
